Did you know that Falcon is the original home of the Lantry Family? 

When they first purchased the resort in 1990, there was an unfortunate fire in the main historic lodge overlooking Lake Vermilion leaving the Lantry’s without a place to live. They commissioned a local builder to build a rustic log home near the middle of the resort with a view of the lake. The builder put some fun features into the home including Y shaped logs near the up and downstairs staircases which at the time were like an additional $200 dollars which was a big expense back then. Now, we are grateful that Tom’s parents (Mike and Bonnie) decided to add some fun into the build. 

The main level was the Lantry’s home where Mike and Bonnie raised their family. In addition to being a home, it was also the main resort office and a law office where Mike continued to work as a district attorney for the town of Cook for the next decade to help make ends meet as a new resort owner.

The basement of the home was where all the fun was had. This space housed billiards and games for resort guests to enjoy. Guests were free to walk in and out of the home to use these amenities. There was also a laundry facility where the guest laundy was done.

The garage outside of Falcon was where a commercial laundry room was set up and Bonnie could complete resort laundry from just a few steps away from her front door. She was known to always have a load of laundry going and a vacuum taken apart for maintenance. 

Over time, the Lantry family was able to make their home more cozy for them by building structures throughout the resort to house a game room and office. 

In 2019 the resort continued to be owned and lived in by Mike and Bonnie and they decided that they were ready to move on and sold the home and the remaining property behind the home to the Resort. 

Tom and I (Steph) quickly started renovating the home to make it rent ready including a total remodel of the main level, switching the living room into a kitchen, removing walls between the front porch and home and adding two more bathrooms on the main level and upstairs.  

To date, Falcon has been one of our favorite projects on the resort because the home and spaces holds soo many precious memories for the Lantry family. It has been a very popular cabin with our guests and now holds memories for many families as they come to enjoy lake vermilion together.
